To receive a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) for the Resident Care Worker program, applicants must provide specific documentation to verify their eligibility.
Important: This step follows the initial registration. You do not need to submit these documents now, but you should have them ready when requested. You may not be asked to present all of these documents, only the ones that apply to your situation.
Required Documents for Standard Admission:
- High School Transcript: Proof of Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
- Proof of Age: Government-issued ID confirming you are 18 years of age or older.
- Background Checks: A Criminal Record Check, specifically including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Resume: A current resume detailing your work and volunteer history.
- References: Two professional or personal references (non-family members).
- Immunization Record: Verification of current immunizations.
- English Proficiency: If English is not your first language, proof of proficiency is required (e.g., SACC IEP Level 7, IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6, or CELPIP 7 with no section below 6).
Mature Student Admission:
Mature student status can be granted to applicants that do not have a high school diploma or GED. If you are 21 or older and have been out of school for over a year, you can apply to Study Abroad Canada College as a mature student. Your life and work experience will be considered along with any past education.
- A letter explaining your relevant experience.
- A detailed resume.
- Your most recent school transcript.
You may also need to take an assessment to confirm your readiness for the program. Be advised that some employers may require Grade 12 or equivalent as part of their hiring requirements, which can limit your employment options.
